上班车流量过大时 升降柱自动冒出来金羊网讯 记者甘韵仪、通讯员番宣摄影报道：往或来方向车流量过大时，小圆柱便像“土拨鼠”一样，从路面的“洞穴”冒出来（上图），临时更改车道用途，以疏导交通。全省首条入口潮汐ETC车道近日在番禺大桥收费站启用，启用后的番禺大桥收费站早高峰入口的小时通行率同比提升20%。
29日上午10时，番禺大桥收费站入口车辆骤增，入口潮汐ETC车道马上开启，收费站前用来形成分隔带的液压自动升降柱马上升起，其间不过几秒钟时间。升降柱宽20厘米，高60厘米，呈有序排列。随后，有车辆按照提示取道潮汐ETC车道上桥。
据统计，番禺大桥收费站目前日均车流量接近10万辆次，其中主线入口（即番禺往广州中心城区方向）共有8条物理车道。该收费站每天7时-11时，广州中心城区往番禺方向车流量小，番禺往广州中心城区方向车流量大，导致出口通畅、入口车道的车辆经常要排长龙上桥的现状。入口潮汐ETC车道，能在入口高峰期，临时划分车道，将出口最左边ETC车道变更为入口ETC车道进行车流疏导，收费站入口由此由8个增加到9个，加快车辆流动。
